Adding another year to its successful record, the 14th Convergence India 2006, International Exhibition and Conference, South Asia’s largest communications and IT event, witnessed an overwhelming response from 386 participants from 25 countries.

Highlighting India’s ICT prowess, South Asia’s premier communications and IT event showcased leading global corporates from the fields of Telecommunications, Mobility, Broadcast, Cable & Satellite, Information Technology and Information Security.

The main objective of this 3-day event was to bring closer the communication and mobile fraternity and provide an international platform to make business happen. It placed emphasis on the impact of innovative technologies in the real life business environment - targeting heightened productivity and tapping new revenue streams.




With sessions on Network Securities, ICT Technologies, Mobility, IT and Broadcast Technologies, the conference saw 95 high profile speakers share ideas and experiences with over 1,177 delegates from a range of industry sectors.

With 18,684 visitors thronging the show in the three days, a number surpassing all previous attendance records for the show, the participants and the sponsors were able to add value to their businesses and gain from the platform offered by the event.


Held in New Delhi from 21 – 23 March 2006, the event was co organized by the Cellular Operators Association of India and Exhibitions India, and brought together the “who’s who” of the global ICT business on a single platform.
   
  • Dr. Shakeel Ahmad, Hon’ble Minister of State for Communications and IT inaugurated the event on 21 March 2006.

  • The exhibition was held in halls 9, 10, 11, 12 and 12A, while the three parallel conference tracks and a workshop were held in the conference rooms in Halls 7 and 8 at Pragati Maidan.
  • There were 386 participants from 25 countries at 14th Convergence India 2006.

  • 18,684 trade visitors from the industry, government and related trade associations attended the event.

  • 1177 delegates participated in the concurrent international conference. There were 80 expert speakers (26 international and 54 Indian) and 15 chairpersons from across the industry sectors.

  • Additionally, there was a workshop on WIMAX technology.

  • A high-powered round table conference comprising of IT secretaries and chief secretaries from five Indian states discussed issues of “Convergence – Bridging the Digital Divide.”

  • The event had a special section on mobility where the top mobile phone service providers exhibited with a special focus on the consumer market.

  • The event had virtually every key industry body actively participating.
A massive advertising and media campaign was run for the publicity of the event before and during the event. The entire gamut of advertising through print media, electronic and online media, radio, outdoor and “Below The Line” was harnessed to create awareness about the event.
