The 16th edition of Convergence India, an International Exhibition and Conference held at New Delhi, marks another relentless effort by Exhibitions India Pvt Ltd in bringing the global Broadband revolution to its next level. Heralded as the most prominent Information and Communications Technology (ICT) event in South Asia, Convergence India is instrumental in bringing the world’s leading companies to India which has become the base for business negotiations and for increased global market for the ICT industry.

A cornerstone for the Indian ICT industry, the expo also had four country pavilions from China, Korea, Taiwan and USA displaying the latest offerings in the field of ICT. The growth in the number of participants and an overwhelming response to the Expo has been mainly attributed to a more detailed and thorough ICT Conference modules and an impressive display of changing technology.
The Expo provided a global platform to the domestic as well as the International industry to share and better understand new information, knowledge and technology in the Information Communication Technology industry. |
Developed around the theme of “Convergence … Empowering a Billion Lives”, a comprehensive concurrent conference session was organized to highlight the significant role of Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) in integration of landline and wireless technologies in order to create a single telecommunication network foundation in India. Over a period of three days, the enriching and detailed modules of the forum provided an analytical insight into topics ranging from next generation networks (NGN), creating the business of infotainment, mobile convergence, DTH/IPTV/mobile TV, developing mobile communications in rural areas, and data management for enterprises via new technology solutions such as PON, Wi MAX, and ADSL. The exhibition played host to scores of new technology. Showcasing of the latest developments in the IPTV segment was mainly dominated by the Indian exhibitors. Majority of participants indicated that they met their objectives of concluding new business deals and establishing useful contacts.
Convergence India has certainly moved with the times. With technology evolving to its next level around the world so has the 16th Convergence India Exhibition and Seminar. Many eminent public personalities and telecom industry leaders hailed the event as a major international showcase of opportunities in India in the space of converging technologies of telecom, information technology and broadcasting.

Observing the growth pattern, Prem Behl, Chairman, Exhibitions India Group recalled that over the 16 years telecom density had moved from 0.5 percent to 25 percent and was set to reach 50 percent by 2010.India has time and again proved that it is one of the world’s foremost market and industry for the ICT industry and at the recently concluded 16th Convergence India Expo this surge was seen in the growth and diversity of the participants which, in the span of 5 years, has risen by more than 200%.
